NEWPORT-born artist Jamie Routley is one of the artists currently profiled in the Wonderful Wales exhibition on show at Barnabas Arts House.
Jamie Routley started out as a work experience boy with Gwent Picture Framing, but this talented young creative has certainly gone on to fulfil his potential.
He currently lives and works in London.
After completing a BA (Hons) in illustration at Swindon College he studied in Florence at the Charles H. Cecil Studios.
His work has been seen in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition (2011, 2012) and at Flowers East Gallery.
At the BP Portrait Awards 2012 on June 19, the Young Artist Prize was awarded to Jamie Routley for his triptych portrait entitled, Tony Lewis which is now housed at The National Portrait Gallery, London.
A selection of Jamie’s works (including a self portrait priced at £3,000) are currently on display at Barnabas Arts House, Newport’s only independent arts house.
There are also a variety of Routley’s landscapes featured in the accompanying Wonderful Wales exhibition which includes depictions of Whitson and Twmbarlwm Path.
The Wonderful Wales Landscapes exhibition also features works by other artists including David Bellamy, Jantien Powell, David Haswell, Winnie Kwong Kuen-Shan, Glenn Carney, Rita Lawrence, Alex Arnell, Martin Preece, Mark Williams and Philip Muirden.
