Rigsby Insurance is a new company based in Newport specialising in unoccupied and let property insurance.
Ben Coleman, of the family run company, said: "We believe in Welsh business and the huge potential in the property market in Wales. As such we really want to offer landlords a great service by insuring their property. We hope to expand and take on more employees as we feel there is a gap in the Welsh insurance market for insuring unoccupied properties. These include those undergoing renovation, pending sale or let, and those which are newly built."
Rigsby Insurance is based in Cordes House, in Factory Road, Newport. The building was originally Dos Nail Works and Cottages, built in 1835 for JJ Cordes, later of Brynglas House.
It was one of the first large local factories and ran an evening school for its child employees. Now, 178 years later, it is still providing employment for local people with Rigsby insurance occupying the top floor and Chapelwood Financial Planning on the ground floor.
