Hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of surplus machinery and equipment is to go under the auctioneer’s hammer following the decision of one of the country’s leading office furniture makers to concentrate manufacturing at its South Wales factory

Bisley Office Furniture closed its site at Bisley in Surrey in July. All of the firm’s production now takes place at its site in Newport, one of the most modern office furniture making factories in Europe.

The auction at Bisley tomorrow, Wednesday November 13, will see plant, machinery and equipment ranging from entire paint lines through to buildings going under the hammer in a sell-off that is attracting international interest.

Edward Denniss, project manager with industrial auctioneers CJM Asset Management said: “The company is the leading manufacturer of office furniture in the UK and one of the largest in Europe, so the auction was always going to get everyone’s attention.”

“We’ve already had enquiries from all over the UK and from as far away as Eastern Europe. We do anticipate that there will be a lot of overseas interest.”

The one thing that is not included in the auction is any of the newly made office furniture manufactured by the company.

Edward said: “We do have some items of furniture that were actually used in the offices on the site but the product stock has all been moved to the Newport or the firm’s showroom in the West End of London.”

In total the auction extends to more than 400 lots. The catalogue is available on the Internet at www.cjmasset.com .The viewing session at the factory on Queens Road in Bisley is today. The online auction using the Bidspotter platform (www.bidspotter.co.uk) is scheduled to close at noon tomorrow.
