One of Wales’ leading waste management companies, Newport-based GD Environmental, has announced Mathew Roderick as its new managing director.

Having spent 12 years working for a national waste management company, Mathew has a long and distinguished career within the industry.

Mr Roderick said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining GD Environmental. It has grown rapidly over the past five years by moving into the recycling market and certainly has an excellent reputation for service and quality. "The management team and staff have a wealth of knowledge and experience which will enable me to further grow and expand the company in Wales and England over the next 12 months.

"The company’s ability to continually evolve and adapt as the market demands and industry changes during very difficult economic times, is extremely impressive. I am extremely confident that we will continue to provide a first class service, helping us to grow and become one of the leading waste management companies in the UK.”

The move separates managing director and executive chairman roles, both of which were previously carried out by business founder James Norvill.

James said: “I am confident that Mathew’s appointment will allow us to become a more adaptable and responsive business. Thus will empower us to continue to deliver a high quality service and enable us to meet our ambitious business targets.”

In response to recent business demands GD Environmental has invested more than £1.5m into the development of a new waste transfer, recycling and water treatment facility in Newport.

The facilities have been purpose built to sort, transfer and recycle in excess of 75,000 tonnes of waste per year, of which more than 90 per cent of all waste received on site is reused and recycled. The pioneering water treatment facility is the first in of its kind to be built and installed. Such advances in technology enable GD Environmental to be a forefront of innovation in the way in which they treat waste water.
