Newport Central Travelodge has a new look after a refurbishment programme which includes a new room design and a luxury bed called the Travelodge Dreamer, deemed in the industry as the Rolls Royce of beds.
The 62-room hotel, which was opened in 2009 on Bridge Street, was refurbished in just one week without any disturbance to its day-to-day operation. The extensive work was carried out by Travelodge’s in-house maintenance team.
The work was part of a company-wide brand investment of £223m including 14 new Travelodge hotel openings this year and the £57m refurbishment programme.
Nathan Prodger, Newport Central Travelodge manager said: “We are very excited to benefit from this investment. The work was carried out with no disturbance to our day to day operation and the feedback we have received from customers has been outstanding. Everyone loves the new warm, contemporary feel of our new room and there is no doubt the hero of the room is definitely the Travelodge Dreamer bed. "
The hotel has proved popular with business and leisure travellers alike, and a spokesman said there has been a three-fold growth in business custom this year.
He said: "The hotel is particularly busy throughout the week with business customers, with Wednesday witnessing peak demand. The demand for good quality, low cost accommodations is growing at great pace in the area and thanks to our great location, across the road from a major new office development, the hotel is perfectly placed to offer the best value accommodation for visitors to Newport and the surrounding area."
