FORE? No, six thousand pounds has been raised through the staging of a charity golf day in Gwent.

The annual event organised by Newport-based building services firm Whiteheads has contributed many thousands of pounds to St David’s Hospice Care over the twenty years it has been run.

Whitehead Building Services Managing Director Rhys Morton said: “We regularly host about forty teams of three, 120 golfers per event, at the golf day held at St Mellons Golf Club with people travelling from across Wales and the west of England to take part.

“It’s become an event which people put in their calendar and come back to compete in year after year.”

Kris Broome, of St David’s Hospice care said: “We’re very grateful to Rhys, Whiteheads and the many golfers that take part in the golf day each year which helps raise this vital money to enable us to provide our hospice at home and other services free throughout the local area.”
