The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama has engaged one of Wales’ fastest growing IT consultancies to undertake a complete overhaul of its existing virtual infrastructure.
Newport-based Certus TG has completed a project to provide an IT solution to the college that complements the £22.5m development that was recently completed to ensure students had world-class performance and rehearsal space.
The new IT infrastructure and its applications will meet the college’s expanding data requirements, and will play a critical role in the continued operations of the college ensuring delivery of the highest levels of IT resilience, performance, security and future expansion of the IT system so the college can offer enhanced IT services.
Paul Brown, CEO at Certus TG, said: “The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama approached us with a need to replace its existing virtual infrastructure to meet its ever expanding requirements, as well as ensure that its data is residing within a resilient and highly available environment.
“We have installed a complex, efficient IT infrastructure, all of which will be hosted on the college premises. We have worked with the college to ensure that the servers have been sized accurately to provide performance and growth, and ensure that redundant data is removed to make sure the college’s students have an IT system that functions effectively.”
Gareth Tottle, information systems manager at the RWCMDrama, said: “It is essential that our students can access the most up-to-date IT resources, which is on par with the innovative and exciting programmes of study offered at the college. However, we wanted to make sure that the system was also efficient and secure. With the academic year in full swing, it is already clear that the new system is working extremely well.
“We approached Certus TG, not only because they are a local business, but also because they are specialists in this area. They worked with us to integrate the technology effectively, as well as supplying the required hardware and offering advice during the implementation phase, there was zero disruption to our classes, which we were really impressed by.”
Headquartered at Celtic Springs near Newport, Certus TG is one of Wales’ largest IT consultancies supporting 120 companies. Current clients include the Millennium Stadium, Freshwater, Broomfield & Alexander, Premier Global, Julian Hodge Bank, Tenovus and Watts Gregory LLP.
