Leading UK regeneration specialist, St. Modwen, has submitted a planning application to build 47 new homes, under its residential brand, St. Modwen Homes, at its £1bn Glan Llyn development in Newport.

Subject to planning consent being granted, work is expected to start on site in April 2014 with a view to launching the first St. Modwen Homes properties onto the market in the summer.

The 47 new St. Modwen Homes properties will comprise a range of two, three and four bedroom homes, at the 600 acre flagship scheme. If approved, some of these new homes will have advantageous views overlooking the pools and mature green landscape at the development.

These proposed properties will follow on from the success of the first phase of housing, being built by St. Modwen’s joint venture partner, Persimmon Homes, where 102 out of the total 307 homes being built have now been sold and occupied.

When complete in the next 20 years, Glan Llyn will deliver a total of 4,000 new homes, 6,000 new jobs at the site’s 100 acre Celtic Business Park and provide a range of facilities including a new local centre offering leisure and retail space supported by new education facilities all surrounded by 80 acres of extensive open parkland.

Just two years old, St. Modwen Homes has already experienced substantial success in the industry and was named Best Small Housebuilder at last year’s national Housebuilder Awards, as well as winning awards for its house designs at its Locking Parklands development in Weston-super-Mare. The housebuilder currently has five active sites located across the UK.
