Newport-based development and training company, Smart Development, has further expanded its team with two newly created roles which will support the business’ growth.
Smart Development, the training division of Smart Solutions, has appointed Sarah Hepworth from Chepstow as business development manager and Gary Campbell from Newport as waste and recycling assessor.
Gary Campbell is an experienced production manager, who spent 14 years working in South Africa in the precious metals refining industry, before moving into the assessment sector. Mr Campbell has worked as an assessor for the last five years and brings with him expertise from the waste and recycling industry.
His role at Smart Development will see him work with the candidates and apprentices during their training, carrying out the assessments required to ensure that they are successful in achieving their qualifications and professional development.
Sarah Hepworth comes from an extensive sales background, having developed her skills working across a range of sectors, including training and recruitment, with her most recent role being at the t2 Group.
Her role at Smart Development is to identify new clients, as well as to continue to raise the profile of the range of pre-employment and apprenticeship training that the business offers. She will be responsible for filling all of the assigned government training contracts, as well as further promoting Smart to the waste and manufacturing sectors.
Mr Campbell said: “It’s a great opportunity to join Smart Development and their fantastic training team. It’s a new challenge to work with the apprentices and trainees who are aiming for different qualifications within the waste and recycling industry, I will enjoy watching them develop and successfully gain the skills they need to further their careers.”
Ms Hepworth said: “It’s an exciting time to join the Smart Development team, and to take on this newly created role is exciting as the business development responsibility had previously sat with the directors. I am pleased I can use my existing skills and experience in the training sector to really drive forward Smart’s ambitions for the coming year.”
Jon Hayward, managing director at Smart Development, said of the appointments: “We’re delighted to welcome both Gary and Sarah to the Smart family. They both have exceptional skills and a wealth of experience that gives added value to our services as a company, as well as the ability to grow our training and development services further.”
