Torfaen council’s new MOT test centre has officially opened its doors.
The centre will provide independent MOT testing for the public and businesses, and is currently accepting class four and seven vehicles, with class five to follow shortly.
Tests are by appointment only and priced at £45, with all revenue being reinvested into front line services.
The council currently services and maintain around 450 vehicles, including 190 from partner organisations, and has contracts to carry out MOT testing for Bron Afon, Torfaen Community Transport and Coleg Gwent.
Councillor John Cunningham, executive member for neighbourhood services, said: “This is a fantastic achievement.
“Having this facility in-house means that the work that was previously out-sourced stays within the council, and reduces the time that staff are away from their duties.
“Not only are we offering an excellent service but it will also allow us to plough the revenue back into essential front line services.”
