Six Newport-based companies are in the running for a prestigious award celebrating excellence in the electronics and software technologies industry in Wales.
Blurrt, SPTS, IR, Cassidian, Silvertel and IAC have all been revealed as finalists for the ESTnet Awards as they managed to impress judges with their innovative approach to the ever evolving industry.
The ESTnet awards celebrate the innovation that exists in Wales and recognises the contribution that the vibrant technology sector makes to the Welsh economy.
SPTS, is shortlisted for Exporter or the Year, Company of the Year and also for its employee, Matt Hill, who has been nominated for Young Engineer of the Year. The company delivers a wide range of technologies, including diagnostics and innovative nano technologies that are set to transform the healthcare industry.
Silvertel, shortlisted for Exporter of the Year, delivers telephone interface solutions and innovative power solutions. Its products incorporate advances that help to provide a greener environment.
Ian Menzies, chairman of the ESTnet, the network representing electronic and software technologies businesses in Wales said: “There is a real wealth of talent in the industry in Wales, and we have a great opportunity with the ESTnet Awards programme to further raise the profile of the sector and celebrate its key achievements.
“The six companies highlight the growing number of technology businesses leading the way through delivering their products and solutions to not only national, but global brands.”
The award categories for the ESTnet Awards include: Company of the Year, SME of the Year, Start-up of the Year, Innovative Product, Innovative Software Package, Exporter of the Year, Supplier of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year. The award ceremony will be held on March 27 in Cardiff.
