Britain’s leading travel writer Simon Calder, will launch the M4 Business Network calendar for 2014, as he addresses members on March 11 at the Celtic Manor Resort.

As one of the country’s foremost travel commentators and senior travel editor of The Independent, Simon Calder’s work, which among others, includes writing for the London Evening Standard and British Airways’ High Life magazine, will be well known to the network’s elite membership.

Expected to get a mention in Mr Calder’s speech is the recent statement by the Secretary of State to Wales, David Jones MP, who has urged Wales’ tourism industry to take advantage of attention brought by September’s Nato summit, which will itself be hosted by M4 Sponsor, the Celtic Manor Resort.

Lisa White, partner at UHY Hacker Young, main sponsor of the M4 Business Network, said: “We are delighted to have Simon on board for the opening event of our 2014 calendar, which promises to be our clubs most successful year to date. The experiences and cultural insights Mr Calder has gained during his career and travels will no doubt provide a wealth of stories for our members.

“Holiday inspiration aside, I’m sure Simon’s insights into Wales’ own tourism which represents such significance for our local economy, will be of great interest to our membership.”

Confirmed speakers for the 2014 season of the M4 Business Network include chief executive of Cardiff Airport Jon Horne on May 13 and Labour politician Tessa Jowell on September 9.
