Newport-based Auction4Cars is celebrating selling its 100,000th car – just five years after it was launched.
The fee-free trade-only car auction website, established by Motorpoint at the start of 2009 to dispose of the car supermarket’s part-exchange vehicles, achieved the milestone late last month.
The car in question was a Vauxhall Meriva 1.6 16v Club 5dr which sold for £2,000.
Available exclusively to independent car dealers in the UK, Auction4Cars, which employs 18 people, has exceeded all expectations since going live at www.auction4cars.com.
To date, more than 12,000 independent car dealers have registered to browse the available stock, and where applicable, place a bid 24/7.
Auction4cars is selling more than 500 cars a week with prices ranging from £100 to £20,000. Stock is updated on a daily basis.
Ian Higson, manager of Auction4Cars, said: “Auction4Cars has exceeded all expectations since it went live. The simplicity of the website, combined with the high-quality part-exchange cars available and, of course, the absence of buyer’s fees, has proved hugely attractive to the trade.
“We’re not taking anything for granted though and we are continually looking to make improvements to Auction4Cars to ensure that it continues to take the lead when it comes to the way in which the trade buys its cars online in this country.”
