A dental practice in Croesyceiliog has invested in new services and a complete refurbishment with the support of a six-figure loan from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.
Dr Sharlene Parmar-Anwar bought Cwmbran Dental Spa in 2012 with help from the bank, six years after she graduated from Cardiff University Dental School.
Sharlene originally worked under the previous owner as an associate, but when the opportunity to buy the practice arose, she approached Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking for a six-figure sum.
Two years on and the practice now serves 7,000 a rise of 10 per cent since Sharlene took over.
To build on this success she has added new cosmetic services, such as Botox injections and teeth whitening, to meet rising client demand. She has also refurbished the clinic with part of the funding enabling patients to receive treatment in a bright and modern practice.
Sharlene now plans to renovate the four rooms currently unused above the practice, to serve a larger proportion of the local area and ease the pressure on other local health services. The additional investment will create at least four permanent jobs, and increase the clinic’s capacity for treatments.
Sharlene said: “The refurbishment means we are in a better position to service the local community and have all the best modern facilities to ensure patients receive the best possible care in an inviting and relaxing space.
“The funding and support we received from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking has been vital to make our refurbishment and treatment plans a reality and our relationship manager has been extremely supportive throughout the whole process.”
Suzanne Rees, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “It is important that dental practices such as Cwmbran Dental Spa are accessible to the wider community and that they can serve the ever growing demand for treatment. The practice is run in a very friendly and patient-focused way and is an asset to the local community.
“With funding from the bank Sharlene has been able to create a bright, modern facility. As part of our latest SME Charter we have pledged to grow our lending to SMEs by at least £1bn in 2014, helping those with ambition for growth.”
