Newport has been named the Motorpoint Site of the Year.

Staff at the 10-acre site, which is located next to the Newport Retail Park on the east of the city, scooped the honour at a special awards ceremony hosted by the UK’s leading car supermarket at the Brandon Hall Hotel and Spa in Warwickshire.

Russell Louth, the long-serving general manager of Motorpoint Newport, together with his staff, were singled out by the company’s directors for their hard work and dedication over the last 12 months, including time spent filming with ITV for the recent TV programme – ‘Bargain Fever Britain’ – which was watched by more than five million people.

Motorpoint, which in the last financial year sold more than 41,000 cars, opened its only site in South Wales in August 2005.

Since then it has gone on to sell a car into every postal code area in Wales.

Russell Louth, who has been at the helm since the site opened, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been named the Motorpoint Site of the Year. It’s fantastic for the whole team to be recognised in this way by the directors and a great endorsement of everyone’s hard work and effort over the last 12 months.”

Russell and the senior management team from Newport will be travelling to Marbella this month by Motorpoint for a three-day all-expenses paid trip as part of their prize.
