Sunnybank Care Home in Griffithstown, near Pontypool, has been sold to a locally-owned health care operator following a deal brokered by Bruton Knowles’ Cardiff office.
The purpose-built, 24-bedroom property was sold off a guide price of £300,000.
Lisa Roberts, from Bruton Knowles’ Cardiff office, said: “Sunnybank Care Home has been closed for more than 12 months and the local people were understandably concerned as to its eventual fate.
“It’s good to report the building - which occupies a popular location in Sunnybank Road in Griffithstown - will now be returned to public usage as a care home.”
The two-storey, red-brick building, purpose-built in the 1980s as a mental health facility, is two miles south of Pontypool and nine miles from Newport.
In addition to the 24 bedrooms, Sunnybank’s accommodation includes a separate lounge/kitchen area and bathroom along with commercial kitchen, laundry, utility, wc and store room on the ground floor.
Lisa Roberts said: “The sale was conducted through best bids and we had a considerable number of enquiries for a variety of uses.”
