Teams from the Royal Bank of Scotland’s joined forces last weekend to climb the highest peak of the southern UK, Pen-Y-Fan.
The team completed the challenge and raised £3,039 for Newport-based St David’s Hospice Care.
Jayne Edwards from the bank’s Newport team organised the 22 walkers to embark on the climb who all successfully reached the top of the peak at various stages throughout the day.
The RBS South and West Wales Corporate and Retail teams have been actively supporting St David’s for just under a year raising money through various fundraising initiatives.
Donations are still filtering through from last weeks’ walk but the total raised so far is £3,039. A cheque presentation to the charity will take place later this month.
Tania Ansell, community fundraiser for Monmouth and Newport at St David’s Hospice Care, said: “RBS in South and West Wales have been a very proactive team with their fundraising and there is no stopping them in their latest challenge of the Pen-Y-Fan walk. From cake sales to raffles they are constantly looking at ways to engage with the local community and tell people about us and we are thrilled they rose to the challenge.”
