A South Wales recycling specialist has completed a £1.5m investment in a facility at Newport - improving efficiency at a complex where 90 per cent of all collected waste is reused and recycled.
The investment by GD Environmental places the firm at the forefront of efforts in Wales to lead the way in the recycling of domestic and commercial waste, and has led to the creation of 15 new jobs.
James Norvill, managing director of GD Environmental, said: "It is essential we continue to reinvest in new people, vehicles and equipment to assure we can satisfy the demands of our growing client base."
GD has taken its investment past the £1.5m mark after acquiring a £130,000 Komatsu wheeled loading shovel to serve its waste transfer station in Newport.
"This new piece of plant equipment was purchased to increase the rate in which we can transfer materials around our waste transfer station, therefore increasing the speed in which we recycle our customer's skipped waste," said Mr Norvill.
"The loading shovel will collect different types of waste around our two-acre site and transfer materials to different recycling bins ready for processing. For example all cardboard will be moved to our cardboard bin ready for bailing."
