TTems, the largest UK-owned global EMS provider, has been awarded AS9100, accrediting its manufacture in Rogerstone of safety critical flight systems for the aerospace industry.
The firm's Rogerstone base is also the first Welsh business site to be audited under the diagnostic stage of SC21, a new aerospace industry supply chain programme of which TTems is a signatory.
Andrew Cox, managing director of TTems Rogerstone, said: "As an AS9100 accredited site, we are approved to manufacture some of the worlds most sensitive and demanding electronic systems, opening up new areas of business for us at Rogerstone. Our new accreditation also provides clear evidence to all of our customers of the exceptionally high standards to which we work here.
"TTems has invested strongly in its Rogerstone plant. The achievement of AS9100 is the strongest possible endorsement of the success of that investment programme and shows that we have succeeded in creating an exceptional manufacturing base that meets the needs of the UK electronics industry in the 21st century."
AS9100 is a widely adopted and standardised quality management system for the aerospace industry. It certifies that TTems has the controls, business management processes and quality procedures in place to support the manufacture of electronic systems that are integral to the safety of civil and military aircraft in flight.
The accreditation strengthens an already impressive portfolio of approvals, including the TS16945:2002 automotive quality standard, the ISO14001:2004 environmental standard, BABT340, IPC-A-610D and ISO9001:2000.
