Law conference Progressive thinking law firms will be taking part in a conference to review and tackle the challenges facing the legal profession at The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport on April 30.

With the Legal Services Act just around the corner, which promotes increased innovation and competition among law practices and includes a proposal to allow non-lawyers to own and operate law firms for the first time, the event will provide strategies and ideas for growth for law firms in a reformed legal marketplace.

Join the club Newport rotary Club, which was formed in 1920, is holding an event for business men and women to find out more about the organisation and what it can offer.

The meeting is at the Newport Lodge Hotel, Brynglas Road, on April 8th. Business men and women are invited to drop in anytime between 5.30pm and 7pm.

Firm's a winner Gocompare.com, based in Newport, has been named as One to Watch at the Fast Growth Business Awards 2008.

Launched in November 2006, Gocompare.com was set up by members of the founding team at Confused.com. Led by MD Hayley Parsons, the team set up Gocompare.com after feeling the need to move the comparison market away from the traditional price-based model to a more product-based service.
