A financial adviser from a Monmouthshire IFA firm is preparing to take part in the Virgin London Marathon this Sunday.

Managing director of Chepstow-based Alchemy Wealth Management Richard Edwards will take part the race around central London to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Hoping to raise more than £2,000 for the organisation which is currently the UK's largest charity for people affected by MS, Richard is hoping to run the marathon in under four hours and 30 minutes.

Having previously run the marathon two years ago, Richard, a keen runner, has been training hard over the last few months, taking part in a number of races across the UK including Rhayader 20 Mile Around The Lakes in a bid to get fit for the 26 mile long course.

Executive chairman Drewe Lacey said: “It is fantastic that Richard has chosen to run the London marathon and support such an important charity like The Multiple Sclerosis Society. The team at Alchemy Wealth Management is fully behind Richard and we will all be cheering him on and supporting him on Sunday.”

Richard said:“This charity lies very close to my heart, my mother was diagnosed with MS more than 20 years ago. I am running this marathon in a bid to raise much needed funds so more research can be carried out and hopefully a possible cure can be found. I am delighted to be able to continue to support their invaluable work this year.”
