If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?

Nelson Mandela. He was an inspiration to so many people around the world.

What is your biggest fear?

Either height or drowning. I’d have to say drowning. I’m not a big fan of water.

Do you have any superstitions?

As a cricketer, yes. I always used to put the equipment on in the same order every time.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

It’s a Meatloaf song – For Crying Out Loud. It’s just a great piece of music that I was brought up on.

What is the most expensive thing you've bought, not including property?

My car. I bought it four weeks ago. It’s a BMW 320 3 GT.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given?

“Pain is only temporary.”

What is your indulgence?

Any chocolate pudding.

What item could you not live without?

My wife would say my iPhone... I think my iPhone.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I don’t think I would change anything about me. I’m pretty content with life.

Where are you next going on holiday?

Nice. We’ve just come back from our holiday so that’s for next year.
