If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be and why?

James Martin because he’s a really genuine guy. Although he’s a celebrity he’s still a nice person.

What is your biggest fear?

Old age probably. I never want to get old but I will. If I got old I can’t do what I do now.

Do you have any superstitions?

Only the ones I know about, crossing fingers and things like that. I am not overly superstitious even though I touch wood and things like that.

If you could have only one song on your iPod, what would it be and why?

I don’t have an iPod so that’s not a good start. It is not a song, it’s a hymn, but How Great Thou Art. It was one of my mother’s favourites.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve bought not including property?

Probably a ring. It was about £3,000. It’s beautiful.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Live your life as you want to live it, not as anyone thinks you should live it.

What’s your indulgence?

Chocolate. Good chocolate.

What item could you not live without?

My dogs. I’ve got two Labradors. I’ve got a yellow dog, who’s nine, and another black one who’s seven.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why?

Probably my stubbornness.

Where you are next going on holiday?

I’m actually on holiday at the moment – I’m in Scotland.
