A GROUP of volunteers collected 15 bags of rubbish in Chepstow at the weekend which included a pouch of syringes.
The eight volunteers took part in a litter pick around Thornwell on Saturday which was organised by the Transition Chepstow Litter Action Group.
They collected 11 bags of general waste, three purple plastic/cans bags and one bag of glass bottles. Other items they collected includes a TV, pet carrier, give way sign, child scooter and a pouch containing six syringes.
Volunteers were from Chepstow, Portskewett, Rogiet and Cardiff.
Paul Gowen, co-ordinator for the Transition Chepstow Litter Action Group, said: "We had a number of unusual items from the litter pick on Saturday. We don't regularly find syringes but it was unusual with that number in the pouch."
The group are looking for more residents from Chepstow to get involved in litter picks. To get involved contact litter@transitionchepstow.org.uk or visit www.transitionchepstow.org.uk
