NOVEMBER 15 sees the election for the police and crime commissioners. For the people of Gwent, the choice is clear – whether we will have a commissioner who will fight to defend frontline policing, or whether we will have one who will acquiesce to the Tory cuts agenda. For the sake of our communities, I really hope that people will come out and vote for the only candidate who is committed to defending our police force from the most draconian public spending cuts ever. Hamish Sandison, the Labour candidate, is committed to working with Gwent’s Labour MPs and AMs. If successful, he will be an important member of ‘Team Gwent’ – taking the fight to the Tories and bringing closer the day when we will have a Labour government which will ensure that our communities are properly protected.
Wayne David, Labour MP for Caerphilly
