KEIR Hardy and Nye Bevan must be spinning in their graves at the defeatist babble of Cllr Anthony Hunt!
Make sure you don’t break the law for your alleged principles of ‘protecting the poor and vulnerable’ no matter how unjust government laws are! With such timid cop-outs you place our heads firmly under the Tory jackboot! We have experienced the “protection of the poor and vulnerable” and the “compassion” when Labour-controlled Torfaen council took those unable to pay Thatcher’s hated poll tax to court. The council also had no qualms about sending in the bailiffs (today it still sends in the bailiffs against people who cannot pay the council tax) “Social justice,” you say, Cllr Anthony Hunt. Well, perhaps you could tell me how many Torfaen councillors have demonstrated against the cuts? I have not seen any on the marches in Cardiff or London, or helping out on our Torfaen Against The Cuts stall, so we can take that pledge with a large dose of salt!
