I AM writing in response to the letter from Len Price published in the Argus on February 1.
If Mr Price is going to quote statistics, then he should ensure that they are accurate. The correct figures for Welsh speakers in all areas are available on the Office for National Statistics website. Mr Price seems to believe that Welsh speakers are asking for preferential treatment; this is not the case. All we are asking for is to have the same rights as English speakers. The Welsh Language Act gives Welsh and English equal status. However, it is rare for Welsh speakers to be treated the same as English speakers. If Mr Price and the rest of the Little Englanders want more money to be spent on health, local services, roads and education then perhaps they would be better off campaigning to reduce the amount of money that is wasted each year by local authorities in Wales rather than attacking the Welsh language.
