IF Len Price is going to accuse others of “being economical with the truth” he really should check his own facts before accusing others. His reference to us having “Welsh road signs, literature and advertising forced upon us when Welsh Nationalist Plaid Cymru made the Welsh Language Act the price of a coalition with Rhodri Morgan’s government” is quite wrong.
It was the Welsh Language Act of 1993, drafted and passed by John Major’s Conservative Government, which gave Welsh and English equal status in Wales and paved the way for today’s bilingualism, some years BEFORE the Welsh Assembly even came into existence. To be absolutely clear, I am no supporter of the “party of Wales,” but, irritated or not by the issue, let us all debate from a basis of truth and not anti-Welsh myth!
