I HAVE an idea: ‘Find a reliable trades-person on benefits or pension/students’.
This is the proposal. A person on benefits, pension or a student contacts me with their skills, be it decorating, gardening, cooking, baking, sewing etc, a car to take someone shopping, and in tandem I would run another data base with people who can’t do the job and need their skills and match them up.
The user pays for the petrol used by the other and then whatever ‘payment’ be it a swap for talents (the user alters clothing, curtains, bakes a celebration cake, puts up units/shelves, replaces a tap washer etc or a television, fridge/freezer, cooker, bed, carpet, etc the user could pay for the transport if required for the item, fair exchange).
If the user wants to pay the tradesperson for the work, then it is a private agreement between them, we would not facilitate that arrangement. In the past two weeks I have placed work with a retired gardener, who wanted a cake for his wife for a ‘big’ birthday, but was quoted £200:00+, the gardener paid the user for ingredients for the cake, to a lady who made it and decorated it expertly! The agreement is he looks after the lady’s garden for the summer cutting grass etc, using her mowers and tools.
Anyone who needs small jobs done or who can offer a service can contact me at the address below and I’ll do my best to ‘fix-up’ the parties. Please be fair with your needs/requirements and expectations.
