INCREDIBLE? The refusal until now of the government to award the Arctic Medal to the deserving veterans of that campaign might seem as if we did not have the benefit of military history to remind us that...
...Good Queen Bess abandoning her wounded from the armada to rot on Tilbury Dock. Hundreds of crippled Waterloo heroes were thrown onto the streets as beggars. Some things, it seems, don’t change.
At least Clifford Davies has, at last, received his medal to recognise the horrendous conditions of the Murmansk convoys in the last world war. Is it cold to the touch, Clifford? I was so pleased to read that he and his wife are enjoying the impeccable care of The Oaks residential home in Rogerstone.
Having experienced the love and care this exceedingly well-run home has offered three of my family members, I am confident that Mr Davies is at last being afforded the sympathy and dignity he so well deserves.
