I WAS first approached in 2007 by local residents with their concerns that Caerphilly County Borough Council had removed disabled parking bays from Blackwood High Street and replaced them with Loading Bays following the Town Centre regeneration.
This story and the plight of local residents were published in the South Wales Argus on Wednesday June 13 2007. I, along with my fellow campaigner Darren Jones pledged at the time to try to reinstate the disabled parking bays on Blackwood High Street, so that disabled badge holders could have easy access to local shops.
Then in 2008 I was elected to serve the residents of Blackwood as a Town Councillor and at every opportunity since, Blackwood Town Council have written to CCBC in relation to this issue.
Therefore may I take this opportunity through your letters page to inform the local residents of Blackwood that after six years, CCBC have agreed at last to reinstate disabled parking bays on a portion of Blackwood High Street.
Cllr Andrew Farina-Childs
Blackwood Town Council
