NEWPORT council has faced its fair share of criticism in recent times over issues ranging from the demise of the city centre to parking charges.
But I’ve been hugely impressed by the spectacular wild flower meadows that have been created in the roadsides around Newport.
There’s been a lot of coverage in the media about the importance of bees that pollinate flowers for the food chain, so it is great to see the efforts made by the council.
I’m aware that Monmouthshire council has also started a similar scheme to plant seeds on verges and I hope other local authorities will follow suit. It has given a great splash of colour to our road sides.
