FOLLOWING local Newport Residents’ complaints again (Argus 3.7.13) at a St.Julians Ward community meeting (April 2013), Gwent Police and Newport City Council “worked together to stop off-road bikes on the Glebelands Recreational Grounds”.
Hopefully the public, young and not so young, will be safe on this park at last, but this is only half a job - as usual! The off-roaders now increasingly use our adjoining residential streets for speeding, racing and wheelies etc, day and night, especially on Bank Street, which is the main approach road without appropriate road marking or speed control!
This must be a “boring topic”, but it is a case of Gwent Police and Newport City Council allowing those idiotic bikers and too many motorists to dice with our safety on a daily basis!
