WHY is Mr Nutt criticising Caerphilly council’s award of the living wage to its lowest paid workers (Letters, 18 July) when that was decided last year and he didn’t speak up then, and his own party, Plaid Cymru, supported the rise?
Mr Nutt says “can the council afford the pay rise and can the council guarantee there will be no job cuts and no public services cuts?” These are good questions for him to put to his fellow nationalists.
But as for guaranteeing no job cuts and no public services cuts, it’s the ConDem Westminster government which has imposed these savage cuts on the Welsh Government’s budget.
Our Labour-led Caerphilly council has committed to doing everything possible to avoid job cuts.
But the blame for any cuts made lies with the Tories and Lib Dems, not with Labour – much as Mr Nutt would like to portray it otherwise.
