MAY I take the opportunity through your letters page to inform the residents of Blackwood that this years carnival which is sponsored and run by Blackwood Town Council will be held on Saturday, August 3.
The parade will start at 12 noon and will work its way through the High Street to Pontllanfraith Civic Centre for an afternoon of fun and entertainment.
Again this year there will be a fancy dress competition with the theme being heroes and villains. The entertainment includes a charity dog show run by Four Paws Animal Rescue, fun fair, animal exhibits, donkey rides, CURS American Civil War Re-enactment Society and Port Talbot Wrestling Alliance.
Also performing live on stage this year are DYT Dance Group, Fit2Dance, Yasmine Davies from Aberbargoed and Juke Box.
Blackwood Town Council is also pleased to announce this year’s carnival queen is Hannah Watkins, princesses Lauren Shankland, Aimee Thomas, court ladies Ellie Anthony and Charlotte Phillips and flower girls Sophie Bennett, Leah Griffiths, Ryley Partridge, Niomie Procter.
Their dresses and accessories again this year will be sponsored by Lillys & Lace of Aberbargoed.
