LAST week I had the pleasure of spending time with a cup of coffee, at the tea rooms in Belle Vue Park. Under new leadership, it is well run and efficient with the added bonus of service with a smile. The staff are people with learning difficulties, who are supported by adult helpers. They do a fantastic job and are a credit to themselves and their carers.
This project gives them the perfect opportunity to show their skill, determination and pure pleasure in their achievements. I think it also shows us that we need to value every member of society as everyone has something to contribute.
We all need a sense of purpose and to be valued and I really hope that the powers that be in Newport City Council take on board this wonderful initiative and support it wholeheartedly. You will certainly be showing how things should be done in a caring society.
So, if you are wondering where to go for a pleasant trip out and a nice cuppa, try the tea rooms at Belle Vue Park. You won’t be disappointed.
