ANN POYSER (Argus letters July 30) makes such a powerful point re GP’s charging for visits and Lydia Hallett (August 1) supports with your header “The NHS could do with TLC”.
I would not disagree with either correspondent, however, I would add that the political interference in the NHS during the Thatcher era and the ramifications of the ‘Griffiths Report’ still need corrective medicine.
I would submit that the NHS has never, and will never be ‘safe’ in Tory hands! This, in my opinion, is a party that looks to line the pockets of those who line theirs. To place a cost and a price on patient’s treatment and run this caring service on accountancy rules is abhorrent.
We have all seen the effect of such policies on the NHS, Police and Education but, no such draconian measures were taken against the careless bankers who created this financial crisis.
