I LIKE to cycle around our river bank every morning, even though quite often I have to avoid broken glass and yes, dog mess, but it seems we now have a new obstacle to avoid.
Newport County have played a couple of Saturday games so far this season and have had to bring in mounted police in case of crowd problems, but the problem has not been with the crowd but with the piles of horse mess on the footbridge and the river bank itself. Now if I’m not mistaken it’s a fineable offence to leave dog mess, is this not the case with horse mess? If it is can I make a citizen’s arrest on the offending policeman? If not, whose responsibility is it and how long is it supposed to take to clear it up? It was nearly 48 hours after the games when I saw it, and how long after that I don’t know before it was removed – or perhaps County fans will be asked to bring a shovel with them to home games.
