IT’S WITH dismay that we write in regard to the cut-backs of Newport council. Cut-backs in regard to the state of roads in and around Newport, non-regularly cut grass areas and verges, overhanging trees and vandalised or missing street signs. Fortunately rubbish collections, yet Newport sees the continuing saga of fly-tipping. What is being done with the people of Newport’s council tax payments? Why does it cost more money each year to see even more cut-backs?
There are 49 councillors for a very small city. Perhaps halving those 49 councillors would enable Newport council tax payers’ hard-earned money used on stopping quite a few cut-backs and we would rightfully see and get done what our money should be spent on.
