WE NEED to attract many more people into the city, so we must have something to attract them. The first thing that springs to mind is our market. The ground floor is fine, but upstairs needs a re-think. We could have different themes on different days. The stallholders would, hopefully be willing to buy as well as sell.
Different themes would be associated with certain days of the week, Saturdays could be for anything. Stall rentals must be attractively low. Success would come from good and positive publicity. Once a reputation is established, things should go from strength to strength.
Another theme I would like to see re-established is an annual Riverside Festival event. Also, could there be potential for a waterbus to Caerleon, tides permitting? It would be interesting to see the city from a different angle.
The Newport Ship, in due course, and like the Transport Bridge, will become an iconic asset. We must never let it leave.
