I HAVE been an Argus reader for many years and have supported many of your petitions and stories over the years. But could I just say how disappointed I was on your write-up about GCSE results. The Argus gave such a poor account on achievements in the Newport schools. Little was said about A* achievers at Lliswerry High and Llanwern High schools that in the past have been labelled ‘deprived schools’.

A lot was said about Monmouth, Torfaen and other ‘upper class’ schools – and well done to them, too. But give those other A* achievers the recognition they deserve whom I feel worked really hard to achieve such outstanding results, along with their schools.
