COOPERATIVES and social enterprises seem to be thriving and doing better than mainstream businesses for growth and their start-up rates are huge. How about a return to social ownership of the things that matter? Energy, transport and housing social ownership, led by the people, for the people could rebalance the economy and make life better for all of us. Except for the rich ten percent who control 90 percent of the wealth in this country. Just another pipe dream, I suppose. Nice thought though. I despair of politics in this country. We have the Labour Party and the unions tearing into each other instead of uniting to get rid of the coalition. The Liberals have sold their souls for cabinet posts, and words fail me about the Tory Party.
