I WRITE in response to Terry Banfield’s appalling and self- righteous letter, flaying Councillor Kirby for, in his words, “prostrating himself before the law of the land”. To the best of my knowledge, Terry Banfield has never held public office in his life and judging by the ravings that he besets Argus readers with on a regular basis, he never will.

It is therefore easy for this individual to urge others more vulnerable to risk a heavy fine or even imprisonment, knowing full well that he will never have to face such penalties. Such behaviour is irresponsibly contemptible and should be regarded as such.
