IF THE Welsh Assembly Task Force thinks a name change would help improve our City, the only choice must surely be “Newport-on-Usk”. Many U.K. rivers are included in place names and tend to be attractive and to interest visitors and shoppers. The Task Force should take a look at Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye, Stratford-upon-Avon, Henley-on-Thames, Bradford-on-Avon, Bradford on Tone, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Newcastle upon Tyne, to name a few. The Usk potential in Central Newport is so obvious, and has been neglected for too long!
