ONCE again we hear plenty of historical ideas such as the barrage, trips up the river to Caerleon and a glass cover for Commercial Street indoor shopping. Who is going to finance such wild dreams? One idea that springs to mind to liven up the people would be to erect a set of stocks in John Frost Square. Once a week have some of the fools (past and present) responsible for the destruction of our town/city football over the last 20 years placed in them. You know who you are!
Then to our delight, the unfortunate market traders could hurl rotten fruit and veg they couldn’t sell because of falling trade. What good fun! A pipe dream perhaps, but it’s food for thought!
