WELL, I have just returned from a reminiscing jaunt to the west side of Newport. In all fairness this city is not as bad as people say.
There have been many changes, most for the better, and some of the new premises, such as Bianco restaurant at Imperial Park, are a pleasure to frequent.
The main let down is the city centre, but most of the rest is good. I was surprised how much the panorama has changed with oodles of new buildings and houses. The scenes I recall from the 50s have vanished. The river hasn’t changed either and looks a lot cleaner and attractive – when the tide is up.
So, my advice for the task team considering improvements strategies is concentrate on the good points.
