SINCE the Chartist mural was sneakily demolished, all sorts of comments are now coming from our Labour councillors and the public.
In today’s Argus, Cllr Debbie Wilcox, the leisure supremo, has no idea and I expect every other councillor will say the same. They also now have brought in said the decision was made by the last LibDem/Con Alliance.
Isn’t it strange that these well-paid councillors always deny responsibility when things get controversial?
Surely someone up the Civic made the decision. There can be no doubt the leader Bob Bright knew, but he has gone quiet. Another thing strikes me as pertinent – two new chairmanships were created when Labour gained power. Not only does it cost more money it must cause immense difficulty in identifying which one is responsible for what.
Perhaps this is the place to look for cuts without venturing into community provision.....and silly non-PR decisions like the Chartist mural farce.
