AT the new Caerleon and Cwmbran bus stand (no shelter!), totally exposed to the elements, on a wet and windy Wednesday at 3.30pm, an all-ages crowd including myself, were complaining in unison about the nightmare of Newport bus service changes by Newport’s Labour-led city council.
Our sympathies were also with the 27 (Caerleon) bus driver who could not pull in to the shared bus stand (no.H2), as the Cwmbran 29 bus was parked up waiting for a driver. The Caerleon 27 bus eventually pulled in, after driving “around the block” three times! We thought he looked a bit dizzy! Why were the Newport Bus company experts not consulted before the siting of the new bus stands and where are the passengers’ shelters? We can obviously look forward to a bitter winter on the buses thanks to Newport’s Labour-led planners!
