WHILE on the way to the Armistice service on Sunday, November 10, an old soldier called across the road to find a toilet. I called back, telling him to go into the Dodger, pointing at the door. A big man pushed open the door and told the man he wasn’t allowed in as it was for councillors only. I said he only needs the toilet, but the man said again that it was only for the councillors. The old chap must have been in his 80s. I then directed him to the fuel station opposite saying they had toilets. He was dressed in red blazer, red beret, with wings (PARAS) and quite a few medals. l didn’t see him during or after the service. I hope he was OK. What a way to treat a war hero. G May, Newport
