I HAD the misfortune to listen and watch the debate in the Assembly on the latest appalling Pisa education results for Wales.
First Minister Carwyn Jones’ responses to questions from leaders of the opposition parties relating to the latest failings of his Labour Government in Cardiff and the education of our children, were asan insult to the people of Wales.
The one-word response he gave (“No”) to a question from the leader of the Lib Dems and others showed total and utter disrespect for the democratic process and accountability of himself and his party’s string of Education Ministers over the past 15 fifteen years.
It also showed total disrespect for any kind of scrutiny of himself as the First Minister by treating these very serious questions with such flippancy. His posturing and attitude would not have gone amiss in the Kremlin or the chamber of the People’s Republic of China.
His only response was to point the finger at all of the opposition parties to ask what they would do.
It appears that this First Minister is quite prepared to accept the high office and all that goes with it, but will not take the responsibility that goes with the job.
